Dominican Republic Missions Trip

D.R. Missions Trip Update #2

Thanks to Novalea Verno, we have another D.R. update for you! Novalea's words verbatim are [bracketed throughout]. The rest of the blog was made possible either through Novalea's written corresponence or last night's IGTV cast, which featured Novalea, Rachel Coldiron, & Libby Holloway sharing about their day.

Yesterday (July 31st) kicked off with VBS in the morning. [We hosted over 100 kids at the local church. We taught them the song “Deep Cries Out” and danced a lot! The kids had a blast and we were able to give out candy and fun hats as prizes. Our very own Michael DeRose entertained the kids with his juggling skills!]

[Bible distribution: After VBS we split into groups and distributed a total of 27 Bibles to the locals. While doing that we were able to pray for people.] One particular testimony that came out of this prayer time was shared by Rachel Coldiron on last night's IGTV Live cast. 'Maria' was a woman our youth had approached during their outreach time who had debilitating symptoms in her right leg. After starting a conversation with Maria (many thanks to YWAM's translators) Rachel and others were given permission to pray for Maria's leg. Maria testified afterward that while they were praying she felt her joints popping and realigning! Before she was prayed for she couldn't even put weight on the right side of her leg, now she had brand new mobility and strength! Rachel explained that Maria was in tears and when she saw her pastor she ran after him, telling him what had just happened!

Another testimony came from Libby Holloway during last night's IGTV Live cast. During the same evanglism time, our group approached a woman who was six months pregant. After much prayer and conversation, the woman accepted Christ! Our youth were also able to pray for here baby in-womb and gift her with a much-needed Bible!

[Bus ride: we drove around the city praying for the city and the people in it. We all had a chance to pray aloud.]

Novalea Verno explained in last night's cast that a YWAM staffer prophesied over the group during worship. [John 4:23-24 was prophesied over us during worship. The guy prophesying over us said that God has everything and needs nothing. Yet, He is searching for something: True worshippers who will worship in spirit and truth. He said that by the end of this week we will be changed and made anew, and that God would reward our worship. The guy also said that when he looked at us he saw 'true worshippers.']

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” JOHN 4:23-24 - NIV

Prayer Requests

The girls on last night's cast requested that we all pray for the language barrier they're experiencing. Pray that they'd pick up enough Spanish to communicate what God is saying to the people our youth are ministering to. Also, pray for our group's safety as they travel, and pray for the evangelism time today, they people would accept Jesus and powerfully encounter God!

How to watch LIVE updates

Go to our Instagram page - @pccyork - to watch live each night at 9 PM EST. We're still having trouble posting the actual 10 minute video to our IGTV page, probably because of sketchy internet, but the video from last night is, at least, available for 24 hours from the time it was recorded. In other words, if you missed it you have until 9 PM tonight to catch up! To do this, log onto our Instagram page & select the profile circle in the upper left of your screen (our logo with a little grey circle around it).
